Pursuant to Clause 2, Part 1, Article 2 of Federal Law No.
PhD and doctoral degrees are awarded by the NUST MISiS Dissertation Board based on the opinion of the expert commission on defending degree-seeking dissertations resulting from the degree-seeking student’s defending his/her dissertation.
Academic degrees may be awarded only in respect of areas of research and fields of study covered by the nomenclature of degree-seeking areas of research approved by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. A specific list of areas of research and fields of study prepared in accordance with the above nomenclature, on which NUST MISiS may accept degree-seeking dissertations, is approved at the meeting of the NUST MISiS Academic Board.
