Application Process

The National University of Science and Technology MISiS is excited to announce a new competitive scholarship program open to full-time international students* pursuing a master’s degree. The International Student Scholarship Program has been created within the framework of the “Program to Increase the Competitiveness of the National University of Science and Technology MISiS Among World-Leading Scientific Educational Centers.”

International Student Scholarship Benefits Include

  • Free tuition to the National University of Science and Technology MISiS during the entire program of study
  • Priority for rooms in student residence halls
  • A stipend that the student will use to cover housing
  • A stipend that the student will use to pay for mandatory medical insurance

Who May Apply

There are two different target groups that are eligible to participate in the International Student Scholarship Program.

  • Advanced Metallic Materials and Engineering
  • Innovative Software Systems: Design, Development & Applications
  • Inorganic Materials
  • Multicomponent Nanostructured Coatings. Nanofilms
  • Nanotechnology and Microsystems
  • Quantum Physics for Advanced Materials Engineering
  • Science and Materials of Solar Energy

Group I

Full-time graduate students pursuing a degree in one of our eight English-medium master’s programs in a technical field.

Group II

Exchange graduate students from partner universities studying or participating in one of the educational master’s programs taught in English or Russian at NUST MISiS.

* Please note that citizens of the Russian Federation, CIS countries, Ukraine, or Georgia are not eligible to participate in the International Student Scholarship Program.

** Academic year only — typically October to June

***Scholarship length depends on whether the exchange is for one or two semesters.

How to Apply

  • Submit the scholarship form

    The scholarship form is not yet available. But we expect it to be available sometime before February 15. If you fill out the general application now, we will send you an email once the template for the scholarship form is released.

  • Color passport photo
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of Purpose in English (or Russian for exchange students studying in a Russian-medium master’s program)
  • Copies of diploma(s) and transcript(s) from all previous academic institutions (undergraduate and higher) in English
  • Certified/notarized Russian translations of any other educational documents
  • Copies of documents (certificates or other notifications of having won international and national (city-wide or other) academic competitions, information on scientific publications, or participation in innovative activities (if applicable)
  • Copy of the biographical information page of the passport which will be used by the international student to enter the Russian Federation, with a validity date not less than 18 months from the start date on the academic entry visa
  • Copy of student ID (only required for exchange students from partner universities)

Additional Information

Please note that applicants who are not selected to receive an International Student Scholarship may still be awarded a different scholarship that would cover from 15% to 100% of tuition.
