NUST MISIS has made another leap, rising to the 87th position in QS BRICS-2016. Only 19 Russian universities are in the top-100, and only six managed to improve their 2015 position.

“For the second year in a row NUST MISIS is counted among the Russian universities demonstrating positive dynamics by the QS BRICS Rankings. In 2015 our university showed the highest rate of growth among Russian universities included in the top-100, rising from the 98th to the 89th position. In 2016 we have continued the positive trend, taking 87th place in the ranking, — said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS. — Our success is the result of the consistent implementation of strategic actions aimed at improving the university’s quality of education and academic reputation”.

The stronger overall ranking can be attributed to the active development of NUST MISIS`s research infrastructure, where 27 laboratories and 3 world-class engineering centers operate, the invitations to leading international scientists to work at the university, and attracting more and more international students.

Additionally in 2015 at NUST MISIS, the number of qualitative publications significantly increased in leading international scientific journals. This allowed the university to rise from 19th to 8th place in QS BRICS among Russian universities for the Citation per Paper indicator.

The university also improved its position in the International Students indicator, rising from 15th to 7th place among all universities in the rankings, and taking 4th among Russian universities.

“It`s terrific that NUST MISIS has demonstrated itself to be a real fighter — beginning at the very bottom just three years ago, the university slowly but rightfully has risen up the ranking`s ladder. The results speak for themselves, so I simply wish the university`s team lots of energy for new achievements, and to maintain the same strategic approach to future development”, commented Zoya Zaitseva, Regional Director at QS, Central Europe and Central Asia.

The Ranking demonstrates the achievements of 250 universities in BRICS countries.
