NUST MISIS Takes 52nd Place in QS Emerging Europe & Central Asia

NUST MISIS has improved its positions in the QS Emerging Europe & Central Asia Ranking (EECA), rising five positions from 57th to 52nd. For the 5th year in a row, the University has shown positive dynamics by improving its ranking, which is up 20 points since 2014. According to the results of the new ranking, NUST MISIS is now in the top 16% of universities from the 42 countries participating in the ranking.

NUST MISIS has strengthened its positions in the ranking`s main reputation indicators, which account for 50% of the total criteria. For the Academic Reputation indicator, the University has jumped from 97th to 83rd place, and for the Employee Reputation indicator, the University is now 54th—up from 58th in 2017.

“Systematic work with business partners that affects every area of our activities — education, research and innovation—is one of NUST MISIS’s priorities. Currently, the University is cooperating with 1,609 companies. Every year, our business partners establish scholarships and grant programs to support talented students”, said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS.

The commercialization of research developments is one of the main areas of cooperation between NUST MISIS and its business partners. The research works conducted by NUST MISIS and its business partners—such as RUSAL, Russian Railways, RUSNANO, etc.—are world-class projects that help NUST MISIS’s positions in global academic rankings. About 80% of the University’s academic staff is involved in the implementation of R&D works and both undergraduate and PhD students are also actively involved in research so they can get practical experience during their time at the University. In 2017, the volume of extra-budgetary funds amounted to 36% of the University`s total funding.

The University also improved its rank in the Citations per Paper indicator, rising from 143rd to 138th, and the Faculty-Student indicator, which rose from 61st to 43rd place. Perhaps most impressively, NUST MISIS took 13th place overall in the International Students indicator.
