Russia and European Union Allocate 12.5 Million Euros to Fight Against Viruses

The European Union and Russia have announced three new joint projects devoted to the fight against human immunodeficiency viruses, hepatitis, and triggers of tuberculosis as part of Horizon 2020, the largest EU research program. The program representatives spoke about their plans for 2018-2020 and cooperation with Russia during a recent seminar held at NUST MISIS.

NUST MISIS Shines among Project 5-100 Participants in the QS BRICS Ranking

According to QS BRICS-2018 results, NUST MISIS has moved up 26 spots in the ranking, while also performing best among the university-participants of Project 5-100 and entering the top 1% of universities in BRICS countries. Since the University was first included in the QS BRICS Ranking in 2014, it has shown significant growth and improvement, and this year that culminated in a jump from 98th to 62nd place.

Quantum Biology: Superconducting Qubits Help to Explain Photosynthesis

An international team of quantum physicists have learned how to simulate processes which can help to decipher the mechanisms of photosynthesis. By creating a system based only on a single superconducting qubit at almost absolute zero temperature, scientists have managed to propel the quantum mechanical modeling of natural processes to a new level. The research article on the results was published in NatureCommunications.

NUST MISIS Metallurgists First in the World Develop a Unique Furnace for the Highly Efficient Recycling of Industrial Waste

More than 95% of cast-iron in the world is still produced in blast furnaces. Modern blast furnaces are powerful units that produce tons of cast-iron daily, but they require prepared, high-quality raw materials like agglomerate cakes, steel pellets, and iron. Recycling industrial waste that contains iron (of which Russian enterprises alone produce more than 5 million tons of annually) is economically and technologically irresponsible and next-to-impossible in blast furnaces.

NUST MISIS Inventions Awarded Two Gold Medals at iENA-2017

NUST MISIS took part at the 69th International Trade Fair “Ideas — Inventions — New Products —2017”, which was held from November 2nd — 5th, 2017, in Nuremberg (Germany). iENA is one of the world`s oldest major exhibitions of inventions and innovations, annually demonstrating the latest achievements in different areas of science & technology and contributing to the scientific, technological, and industrial exchanges at an international level.

NUST MISIS Scientists to Create Invisible Metamaterials

An international science team consisting of researchers from NUST MISIS and Polytechnic University of Turin has started its work on the creation of the Theory of Absolute Invisibility. The official start of the research project took place during a joint Russian-Italian seminar that took place on November 8th, 2017, at NUST MISIS.
