Intercultural Communication and International Tourism
The English-language program “Intercultural communication and international tourism” is aimed at training specialists in the field of intercultural communication and tourism development on the local, regional, national, and international levels. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to assess the recreational potential of territories, create and promote tourism products and manage territorial development projects. The international student body creates real conditions for intercultural interaction during internships and group projects.
This program focuses on the the basics of intercultural communication and international tourism. You will learn to analyze the situation in the travel services market and get the basic principles of its structure. You will also gain knowledge about the resource potential of the territories, which may be used in different practice areas. A special feature of our program is teaching in English, which allows our graduates to increase their competitiveness in the international field of the tourism industry.

Students are mastering the semiotic basics of working with the image and branding of the territory, namely, the principles of marketing strategies considering the cultural codes of locality and territories at the local, regional, and national levels

Research expertise of the territory in terms of recreational potential, tourist destinations, development of ‘turnkey’ tourism programs

Russian geographer, philosopher, historian. DSc in Philosophy, PhD in Geography
Professor University of science and technology “MISIS”, leading researcher of the Institute of Scientific Information in Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the President of International Association for Semiotics of Space and Time (IASSp+T, Switzerland), Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts. The author of more than 200 publications, including the monograph “Spaces and Meanings, Semantics of the Cultural Landscape” (Springer, 2019). The author of the long-term interdisciplinary scientific project “Geography of Art” (12 collections have been published and 9 conferences have been held, since 1992).
Has a degree in History; PhD in Theory and Methods of Professional Education. Irina is lecturer of the course “History and Theory of Culture in the Context of International Relations” in the master’s program and a thesis supervisor.
Ivan Mitin
A cultural geographer with research interests in destination images and local identities of urban peripheries. Ivan holds his Ph.D. in human geography from Moscow State University. He is currently an Associate Professor of Vysokovsky Graduate School of Urbanism, HSE University.
FAQ
We start considering new applications for the next admission year in October. First interviews initiate in February and are conducted on a weekly basis till the end of July.
You are requested to submit the following admission documents:
A scanned copy of the passport biographical page with the Notarized translation into Russian language;
A scanned copy of the Bachelor diploma and Transcript with the notarized translation into Russian language;
The Statement on standard medical form indicating no contraindications for studying in Russia, with note on results of HIV test with notarized translation into Russian language.
The Medical Certificate is expected to have the statements of the following medical specialists: therapist, surgeon, neurologist, otorhinolaryngologist, ophthalmologist, as well as the results of RW blood test and ECG.
To register for the interview it is enough to submit the originals of your passport bio-page and your Diploma with transcript as well as your motivation letter and CV in English.
The entrance exam is organized online in the form of interview. You will be expected to answer several questions related to the subject area. To get prepared use examination content at the top of the page.
To get enrolled a candidate has to score at list 40 points during the interview.
