The behavioral sciences: How can we model what we don’t understand?

ru

Abstract: A difficulty in the behavioral sciences is that people need not behave as predicted, which has led to new areas such as behavioral economics. This leads to a new problem; how can we model what we do not understand? The common approach of using evolutionary x′=f(x) equations is suspect because the choice of f(x) is not really known. An alternative approach, based on elementary algebraic topology, is introduced in an expository way by using a troubling example, the ultimatum game, and showing how to find answers with a new approach.
