The United Nations General Assembly during its 74th Plenary Meeting proclaimed 2019 as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT 2019) on 20 December 2017.

It is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the discovery of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, made by a great Russian scientist Dmitriy Mendeleev.

In 1869, Dmitriy Mendeleev published his first scheme of the Periodic Table in the article “Correlation betwee the properties and the atomic weight of the elements” in Russian Chenical Society’s journal. Since that, the Periodic table has been one of the greatest scientific discoveries, emreacing not only the essence of Chemistry, but all natural sciences. This is a unique instrument that allows scientists to predict the appearance and the properties of matter on Earth and far beyond the Earth.

International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements 2019 is a world initiative, aimed at highlighting the importance of the Periodic Table for science, technologies and sustainable development of the whole humanity.

Periodic Table is the graphical representation of the Fundamental law of nature.
