Joniald Shena. “Coherence and synchronization in two coupled groups of semiconductor lasers”.
Abstract: we consider a network of semiconductor laser arrays with two different groups with high and low pumping rates respectively in a nearest-neighbor constant coupling strength interaction. This system has been investigated numerically from the viewpoint of temporal and spatial coherence. A full amplitude and phase synchronization of the high pumping group has been observed where the maximum output power scales with the square of respective group elements number. The low pumping subpopulation is unsynchronized and inserts large oscillations to the temporal mean value coherent intensity of the whole system. This behavior comes from the bistability of the system on limit cycles and is very sensitive to the initial conditions. Furthermore, we have found that this dynamical behavior is robust for a small amount of detuning between the main frequencies of each laser.
