Developing effective grant writing skills is essential for obtaining competitive funding from government agencies and private foundations.

Writing a successful grant proposal is a combination of art and science. This requires basic know-how, body of knowledge, writing skills, strong research skills, creativity, organizational skills, patience, and a lot of luck.

The online English-language course “Writing Research Grant Proposals” will provide students with the information they need to understand the grant application process.

Lessons will be held from April 22 to June 10, 2021, every Thursday — from 18:00 to 20:00.

After successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • apply the strategic use of research skills to create a research area;
  • understand the fundamental components of a grant application such as abstract or summary, general provisions and relevance, specific goals and objectives, project design and methods, sustainability, outcome measurement, broader impacts and cover letter, and the general grant application process;
  • expand academic vocabulary to increase classroom engagement and understanding of academic grants-related texts at the graduate and postgraduate level;
  • use a variety of reading and writing strategies to improve understanding and expression for academic purposes at the graduate and postgraduate level;
  • create and deliver presentations of academic materials;
  • use online and academic resources, as well as support services.
