NUST MISIS Signs Memorandum with Chinese Academy of Coal Sciences

April 27, 2015 at the Mining College of the NUST MISIS signed a memorandum on cooperation with the Academy of Coal Science and Technology of China.

The parties agreed to cooperate in several areas, where the parties have a mutual interest, in particular:

— Joint work on the standardization of solid mineral fuels as part of the International Organization of Standardization (ISO)

— Development on the classification of coal and methods of evaluation of their technological properties

— Development of technologies for the deep processing of coal

— Mutual exchange in graduate and postgraduate programs in chemistry and deep processing of coal.


The signing of the memorandum is the first step in a new phase of partnership between MIS&S and the miners of China, with which the University has been cooperating since 1939. The Chinese representatives said that they attach great importance to the training of specialists in the field of coal processing and emphasized the significant contribution made by Soviet and Russian scientists in the development of Chinese industry in general and in particular in the processing of coal.

As noted at the meeting, Valery Zakharov, Director of the Russian Academy of Sciences Research Institute of Comprehensive Exploitation of Mineral Resources (IPKON), “Cooperation between NUST MISIS and the Chinese Academy of Sciences of Coal will allow finding very interesting solutions to the problems of deeper processing of coal.” IPKON for its part will be pleased to participate in this promising project.

The next stage of talks will be held in Beijing, where representatives of the Mining College have been invited to share their experience and develop a plan for further work in the field of international cooperation within the framework of the"5-100″ Academic Excellence Program.
