By the end of 2015, NUST MISIS has ranked the fifth position in the Rankings of Demand for Russian Academic Institutions in 2015 among the universities for engineering and technology. The Rankings of Demand for Russian Academic Institutions in 2015 is the first ranking in Russia which assesses the orientation of universities to the real sector of economic activity by three indicators: Share of Graduates Received Job Placement, Research Income, and Citation Index.

NUST MISIS has ranked the third position on the Citation Index indicator among the universities for engineering and technology. According to the ranking, the university has received 35, 6% of share funds from the commercialization of intellectual property, and 70, 2% of its graduates have received job placement.

463 universities are from 80 Russian regions, including 140 institutions for engineering and technology. The data for assessment was taken from the Russian Federal State Statistics on Education and the Russian Science Citation Index data base.

“The focus of universities on the real sector of economic activities is extremely significant and NUST MISIS always gives close attention to this direction. The active cooperation of the university with the employers and business is highly valued by both, national and international academic rankings. Thus, NUST MISIS has ranked the 215th in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings and it takes the fourth place among the Russian universities. According to the THE World University Rankings, one of the NUST MISIS strengths is its cooperation with business for applied research and development. Conforming to this indicator the university takes the 133rd position among the other universities in the world. The Rankings of Demand for Russian Academic Institutions in 2015 has also included us in its top list”, said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS.
