Special Address by Rector of NUST MISIS

Dear students,

Tomorrow, February 8, will be a very special day at NUST MISIS. Tomorrow we will be welcoming our students back to the classrooms. The spread of the new coronavirus has slowed down, and you can meet your friends and feel the vibrant energy of the campus life again. The university’s laboratories and student organisations, hobby centres and gyms are opening their doors once again.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected every aspect of our lives. We have faced profound changes in healthcare, economy and education. Even under this uncertainty, NUST MISIS has been true to its mission and values and the overall direction for development set out by those values.

We always put our students first. Our mission is to provide high-quality education, introduce our students to the world of science and help every student thrive to reach their full potential. That’s why we seek to create the right conditions to help our students develop competences and qualities that are sought after by employers, such as leadership qualities, personal responsibility, determination with a sense of purpose, self-discipline and critical thinking.

To effectively meet these objectives, we’ve been relying on technology-powered personalized learning. We’ve been successfully applying digital technology for so-called blended learning — an approach that combines traditional face-to-face classroom training and high-tech remote learning. The introduction of blended learning approach into the training process has been proven to improve the quality and the accessibility of education. Blended learning also makes it possible for students to chart individual learning pathways, learning skills they need for their future careers. That’s why the form of instruction is being chosen individually for every discipline to meet the educational standards, while remaining in accordance with student and teacher capacity.

To ensure our students’ and staff safety, we have implemented the range of protective measures required to comply with government guidance: all the shared spaces are equipped with air purifiers, hand sanitizer stations and automatic thermometers, and enhanced cleaning measures have been introduced. We also provide our students and staff with free PPE.

To open up the opportunities for the students, researchers, lecturers, and employees to connect with the university management at all hours, NUST MISIS operates the Open Rectorate platform. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can fill out the form on the university’s website and get a prompt response.

Dear students! Welcome back to your alma mater! Stay healthy, stay inspired! I wish you the best of success in your studies!
