Supercomputers for effective business problems solving

The International Symposium and Workshop Electronic Structure Theory for the Accelerated Design of Structural Materials with participation of the world leading scientists will be held at NUST MISIS. The aim of the event is to assess the possibility of using modern supercomputers for the acceleration of structural materials development, find breakthrough solutions and share experience of cooperation with such global corporations as BMW, Mercedes, Sandvik and many others.

Electronic structure of materials is actively growing and developing field around the world, but it is still underestimated in Russia. The most influential corporations around the world can`t manage without supercomputer`s simulation whether the aircraft industry, automotive industry, geological survey, oil and gas industries. The development of new materials increasingly begins with the computer simulation.

On the Open Session The possibilities of modern computer modeling for the Accelerated Design of Structural Materials the world leading scientists will talk about:

— the use of supercomputers for business;

— the advanced materials discovery and the provement of their usefulness for the commercial market;

— the friendly environment creation for the science and business cooperation;

— the use of supercomputers for the technology and business development.

The world leading scientists will also share the greatest experience of cooperation with such global corporations as BMW, Mercedes, Sandvik and others.

The conference is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the international organization Psi-k.

Key speakers:

Prof. Dr. Igor A. Abrikosov (Linköping University, Sweden) — head of NUST MISIS Laboratory for the Modeling and Development of New Materials (Moscow, Russia), member of the National Research Tomsk State University International Scientific Advisory Council.

Prof. Dr. Jörg Neugebauer — Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research (Düsseldorf, Germany).

Prof. Nicola Marzari (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland) — head of the theory and modelling group, Director of the EPFL STI PRN-MARVEL (Switzerland).

More than 50 world-renowned scientists engaged in the computer simulation, the supercomputer clusters heads, the Russian business representatives, the third parties interested in the cooperation with such Russian science centers as NLMK, RosNITI, VSMPO — AVISMA, I.P. Bardin Central Research Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy.

“Igor Abrikosov is one of NUST MISIS leading scientists. He is an ideologist and organizer of the first international conference on the computer simulation in Russia. His Laboratory for the Modelling and Development of the New Materials established in frames of the Russian Federation Megagrant project corresponds to the highest standards. It ranks among the fifty top supercomputers in CIS countries. The peak capacity of the cluster is 33 teraflops or 33 trillion operations per second which provides the acceleration of information processing”, said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS.

The Open Session The possibilities of modern computer modeling for the Accelerated Design of Structural Materials will be held at NUST MISIS (Leninsky Prospekt, 4, metro station “Oktyabrskaya” (Koltsevaya Line) on Thursday, 29 October, 2015, 10-00

The working language of the event is English with simultaneous translation into Russian.
