NUST MISIS Academic Writing University Center Holds “Grant Proposal” Course

From March 19th, 2018, to April 9th, 2018, the NUST MISIS Academic Writing University Center held a “Grant Proposal” refresher course in English for PhD students, researchers, and university employees.

The training program, developed by the NUST MISIS Academic Writing University Center, included four educational modules and a practical part. The aim was to improve people’s professional foreign language writing skills, allowing them to write proper applications for research funding and new developments.

Like last year in 2017, Varvara Sosedova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, a specialist in the field of Economics, and the author of the “Grant Proposal” course on the Coursera platform, headed the course. Marina Melkonyan, coordinator of the Pumping and Compression Pipe “Infrastructure” course, held a short master-class where she told Russian and international students about the main mobility programs for NUST MISIS researchers.

During the course students learned not only about the main planning tools and project organization but also about how to determine research costs, as well as making and justifying a budget. Certificates and credentials of course completion will be awarded at the end of April, after students pass the practical writing task.
