College of Technologies

The College of Technologies prepares specialists for the fields of science and industry involved in creating new materials and equipment for innovative products. The main direction of the college’s activities is scientific and research developments in technology for mechanical engineering and energy, as well as implementing R&D results in Russia and abroad.

Education at the College of Technologies

Modern innovative economy is impossible to achieve without quality engineering education. The College of Technologies at NUST MISIS prepares engineers and research scientists with fundamental theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and competencies demanded in the labor market amidst the digitisation of production.

Professors and lecturers at the college widely use new educational technologies, relying on the university’s advanced research infrastructure. An extensive list of business partners, including both leading corporations and industry companies, allows organising internships adapted to the narrowest specialisation. The quality of specialist training has been repeatedly confirmed by AIOR/EuroACE certificates.

The experience and qualifications of NUST MISIS teachers, extensive use of innovations in the educational process, and implementation of individual educational trajectories enable timely responses to the challenges facing the higher education system today. Effective use of electronic databases, the university’s Canvas platform, and educational portals, along with the creation of massive open online courses, make learning accessible anytime, anywhere.

This college accepts graduate students for the following English-language MSc courses:

New Production Technologies

Science at the College of Technologies

Scientists at NUST MISIS conduct research in a wide range of directions, including metallurgy and materials science. College of Technologies staff are engaged in fundamental research of metallurgical and casting processes, create special steels, alloys, and new materials with specified properties, develop new technologies, and implement them at the university’s business partners’ enterprises.

Special attention is paid to the implementation of projects within public-private partnerships.

Laboratories at the college conduct scientific research in priority areas such as new alloys of non-ferrous metals, engineering of technological equipment, pipe production, development of highly efficient technologies in metallurgy of non-ferrous, rare, and noble metals, physical modeling of thermomechanical processes, new technologies of powder metallurgy and functional coatings, computer casting technologies, additive and powder technologies, research in thermochemistry of materials, development of metal plastic deformation technology, and more.

On the territory of the educational and scientific production base “Tyoply Stan”, an experimental-industrial cluster has been created, aimed at conducting implementation work at industrial enterprises on technology development with obtaining experimental product samples. The cluster consists of four educational and production complexes: metallurgical technologies, foundry production, energy-efficient processes, metalworking.

1918 г.
The history of the Institute originates from the Metallurgical Department (1918) of the Moscow Mining Academy and the affiliated most high-tech departments (1958) of the Moscow Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold.
Many graduates are legends of the Soviet industry. For many years, Ivan Tevosyan headed the ferrous metallurgy of the USSR, Pyotr Lomako led non-ferrous metallurgy, and the “atomic project” of the USSR was successfully led by Avraamy Zavenyagin, Yefim Slavsky, and Vasily Emelyanov.

“Cutting-edge technologies are one of the main tools for the development of the modern economy, ensuring both mass and individual production using high-precision information systems in such industries as metallurgy, mechanical engineering, aviation, energy, nuclear industry, and others. Our educational programmes meet international requirements and standards for training specialists for the digital economy. The Institute of Technologies is an excellent start to a career in science, business, and public service. We are creating the future together with you!”
