NUST MISIS Rises by 100 Positions in the QS World University Rankings

NUST MISIS has strengthened its academic ranking in the QS World University Rankings 2016, rising by 100 positions. In 2015 the university was in the 701+ group, but this year the university has moved up into the 601+ group.

Throughout 2016, the International student ratio, Academic reputation, and Citations per faculty indicators have spurred a great advancement for NUST MISIS’s position in the QS Ranking.

In 2015, NUST MISIS took 317th for the International student ratio indicator, and in 2016 jumped to 223rd, rising by almost 100 positions. Before the university’s participation in Project 5-100, the ratio of international students was 10.3 %, but in 2015 that number had increased to 17.6 %.

The focus on top-rated journals with a high impact factor, which is the university`s strategy in the field of publication activity, has also paid dividends thus far. The strategy has fostered growth for NUST MISIS, as reflected by the 47% increase in the university’s position in the Citations per faculty indicator.

NUST MISIS has risen in the other indicators as well: it strengthened its position in the Academic reputation indicator, which has the strongest weight in the overall ranking at 40%. The university has improved its position by 76% compared to the 2015 numbers.

“Our university is constantly strengthening its position not only in the QS World University Rankings, but in other world academic rankings as well. We are proud of the results we’ve achieved so far with the university’s chosen development strategy. NUST MISIS’s positions are improving in the QS regional rankings as well: in 2016, among universities in BRICS countries, NUST MISIS rose to 87th, and in the Emerging Europe & Central Asia Ranking to 63rd”, said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS.
