NUST MISIS Ranking Up in QS

July 8, 2015, NUST MISIS confirmed its status as a global leader in the areas of Materials Science, Metallurgy, and Mining, significantly strengthen its positioning in the QS BRICS leading universities ranking. According to one of the most reputable international educational consulting company Quacquarelli Symonds, the University moved up to 89th. University showed the highest growth rate among Top-100 Russian universities in the ranking. The new estimates have been published on the official website of the project.

Since 2014 NUST MISIS is one of the Top-1000 universities in the world and in the Top-100 BRICS leading universities according to QS. “Our consistent progress in international rankings shows that we have chosen the right strategy for the development of the university and our efforts to modernize the university did not go unnoticed,” said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS, “International positioning is one of the priorities for NUST MISIS.”

The share of international students in the university is growing steadily every year. On the basis of the 2014 admission campaign it has reached 16%. At the same time, representatives from 52 countries of the world are studying at NUST MISIS. During this year the university opened nine English-language Master’s degree programs and the Center for Study of Russian as Foreign Language. NUST MISIS became one of the leaders of the project “National Platform of Open Education.” Participation in the creation of the MOOC courses and certification of students by IELTS system also contribute to the development of international educational environment at NUST MISIS. Strengthening of the university positioning in the rankings certainly depends on the productive activities of more than 20 advanced research laboratories, system to attract world-class scientists, and active participation in international research projects.

QS World University Ranking is one of the most respected educational rankings of the world, which is calculated on a unique methodology of the British consulting company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
