Geotechnologies for Subsoil Exploitation

Want to become a mining engineer involved in the exploration and extraction of mineral resources? Interested in learning how to develop and apply resource extraction technologies without harming the environment? Learn how to manage mining enterprises?

You will become a specialist in the design and operation of modern mining enterprises. You’ll learn how to ensure the full cycle of mineral extraction, maintain industrial and environmental safety, and achieve high techno-economic efficiency.

The primary goal of this track is to train mining engineers to meet international standards through close collaboration with leading mining enterprises. With the integration of digital technology platforms into the curriculum, you’ll be able to conveniently manage your class schedule and even work while studying.

Duration of the program: 5,5 years. Full-time education in Russian.

Underground Construction

Do you know why underground urban infrastructure is becoming a promising field? Experts predict that within five years, some megacities will reach populations of 19 to 30 million, necessitating extensive underground development for livability.

You will learn to design underground structures and mining facilities using IT technologies. You’ll discover how to address scientific and practical challenges in underground urban development. You’ll also undertake internships and field training at mining enterprises in Russia and at unique construction sites — such as metros, underground parking garages, gas and oil storage facilities, road and rail tunnels, and expansive underground shopping and recreational complexes.

After graduating in Underground Construction, you will be qualified for engineering and managerial roles in the mineral resource sector or become an expert in the construction of urban underground facilities, shafts, mines, and other mining-industrial enterprises.

Duration of the program: 5,5 years. Full-time education in Russian.

Mine Surveying

Do you want to become indispensable to construction, mining, and oil & gas enterprises? A mine surveyor plans and oversees all stages of underground construction and mineral extraction using advanced electronic and laser instruments, digital tools, UAVs (drones), GNSS (satellite) equipment, and specialized software.

In this track, you’ll follow industry expert-designed programs, work in the department’s laboratory facilities, and complete surveying, geological, and mine surveying practicums during the summer. You’ll learn to support the exploration and rational use of Earth’s subsurface, organize activities for mining enterprises, control technological impact on ecology, and carry out a full range of engineeringwork in civil and industrial construction.
