NUST MISIS will host a Russian-German seminar “Large Research Infrastructures” (hereinafter referred to as the Event) held within the framework of the Russian-European Symposium “Large Research Infrastructures”. The Event is held as part of the implementation of the “The Russian-German Roadmap for cooperation in the field of education, science, research and innovation between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Federal Ministry of Education and Scientific Research of the Federal Republic of Germany”.

The purpose of the event: to provide scientists with the necessary information about the possibilities of conducting research on large research infrastructures and the procedures for accessing them, as well as the tools for supporting scientists, implemented within the framework of cooperation between Russia and Germany.

Description of the event: intensive scientific cooperation between scientists from Russia and Germany determined the need for joint participation of countries in the creation and operation of large research infrastructures that ensure the conduct of unique scientific research. In particular, by joint efforts the European X-ray laser XFEL was built and put into operation in Hamburg, the European Center for the Study of Ions and Antiprotons FAIR is being created in Darmstadt; German research organizations are participating in the implementation of the Russian “megascience” project of ICNI PIK (International Center for Neutron Research based on the PIK Reactor).

At the same time, the success of such infrastructure facilities is associated with the tasks of developing and supporting the scientific and expert community, which is able to take advantage of the unique experimental capabilities of the facilities to solve individual scientific problems.

Engaging more scientists, including young researchers, in these areas is an important step in development cooperation and large research infrastructures.
