Koen Timmers, “Global Teacher Prize” 2017 and 2018 laureate, will host a series of workshops as part of the “Digital School” track at #EdCrunch-2018. #EdCrunch-2018 is the 5th annual holding of Europe`s largest international conference on educational technologies, and will be held in Moscow on October 1st and 2nd, 2018. Timmers, a world-renowned educator, will talk about global educational projects and how to use the Internet to aid in the learning process.
Koen Timmers is a Belgian educator and author, enthusiast of blended learning and use of modern technologies in education. In 2015 he launched the Kakuma project involving 175 global educators offering free education to African refugees via Skype.
Timmers also launched several global educational projects involving 500 schools across 85 countries. His “Climate Action” project was supported by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, UNESCO, Greenpeace, etc. His “Innovation” project was supported by Charlize Theron and other public figures. Koen Timmers has created several educational apps and has founded his own online school Zelfstudie.com currently having 20000 online students, he is also the co-author of the book “Teaching in the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.
In both 2017 and 2018, Koen Timmers was recognized as one of the world`s best educators, receiving the “Global Teacher Prize”.
“Will robots be able to replace instructors in the Fourth Industrial Revolution? I guess they already can. Will AI be able to answer our students` question in the future? I guess it will. But I don`t believe robots and AI will be able to bring in empathy and passion in the classroom”, Koen Timmers, said.
Koen Timmers will hold two workshops as part of the “Digital School” track at the 5th #EdCrunch International Conference on Educational Technologies.
The first workshop will be devoted to how to make the learning process global with the help of modern technologies. During the event, participants will learn about successful global educational projects and how to build relationships with other teachers and students around the globe.
The second workshop will examine questions of social media use in learning. Participants will learn about effective methods of how to work with communication technologies, as well as how to identify their benefits, drawbacks, and unexpected side effects.
The 5th annual International Conference in the Field of New Educational Technologies, #EdCrunch-2018, will be held in Moscow. The main topic is “Data That Transform”, and the conference will be devoted to modern research and practical solutions in the field of big data in education. Every angle of the issue will be discussed, from methods of collecting and analyzing educational statistics to the use of blockchain technologies and artificial intelligence in the educational process.
#EdCrunch-2018 is being held as part of the implementation of the “Modern Digital Educational Environment in the Russian Federation” priority project. The 5th annual International Conference in the Field of New Educational Technologies, #EdCrunch-2018 will be held by NUST MISIS and the National Technology Initiative University 20.35 with the support of the Ministry of Science & Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Rybakov Fund, the HSE Institute of Education, Arizona State University, and the global edtech platform HolonIQ.
