Sberbank and NUST MISIS signed a cooperation agreement and approved the roadmap until 2024. The agreement signed by German Gref, President and Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, and Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS, presupposes joint training of specialists in bachelor’s and master’s programs, the opening of a laboratory for Service Robotics at the University, as well as joint research.
Enrollment for the first two educational programs — the bachelor’s program “Algorithms and Methods of High-Tech Software” and the master’s program “Innovative IT Projects” — will start during the 2020 admission campaign.
Alevtiva Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS:
“One of the key areas of cooperation between NUST MISIS and Sberbank will be the creation of a modern training system in the field of AI and Robotics based on the University’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Interdisciplinary programs at the intersection of fundamental science, IT and business practices will allow students to form the competencies necessary for the implementation of the concepts of ‘smart city’, ‘Internet of things’, solutions for unmanned vehicles and production and other promising areas”.
The classes will be given by NUST MISIS professors and researchers from Sberbank. Employees of the bank will give students topical business cases, as well as help them carry out their own research projects. This approach will allow young engineers not only to gain skills and competencies, but also to get acquainted with the principles of how team work is organized. NUST MISIS students will have the opportunity to participate in internship and externship programs.
Sberbank employees from the R&D Department, the Data Research Center, and the Robotics Laboratory will become the scientific advisors of the joint programs.
German Gref, President, Chairman of the Board, Sberbank:
“Each University has its own values and features. NUST MISIS is one of the best universities in Russia, and we are a technology company that offers the most modern solutions to improve the quality of education, including the school platform, which has already proved its effectiveness and allowed us to make a decision to develop a digital platform for universities”.
The agreement also provides for the creation of a laboratory for Service Robotics at NUST MISIS, where developments will be carried out in the field of control and navigation systems for unmanned vehicles, as well as systems with human-machine interfaces: speech recognition and synthesis, image processing, and others.
A special place in the agreement is given to the implementation of joint educational programs in the field of professional navigation, including ones within the framework of the Academy of AI and Sirius University, the organization of internships and externhips for students, and help with the best graduates’ employment in Sberbank’s specialized divisions. In summer 2020, the first NUST MISIS IT-students will complete an online training internship at Sberbank using remote access to their work places. Enrollment for the first two educational programs-the bachelor’s program “Algorithms and methods of high-tech software” and the master’s program “Innovative IT projects” — will begin already during the admission campaign in 2020.
