Proven Leadership: MISIS University Ranked Top 15 in Digital Economy

NUST MISIS secured 12th place in the Digital Economy University Ranking, compiled by the autonomous non-profit organization Digital Economy with support from the Association of Computer and IT Enterprises. The study assessed 304 Russian universities across 69 IT-related specializations.

For two consecutive years (2023 & 2024), NUST MISIS has maintained its position at 12th place, demonstrating consistent excellence in IT education. The university offers diverse training programs where students develop business systems, management solutions for various industries, healthcare, and banking. They also specialize in knowledge base management, data storage systems, intelligent processes, and cybersecurity principles. Graduates pursue careers in major IT companies as developers, programmers, and information system architects, driving innovation in the field.

The NUST MISIS Career Center hosts over 200 career-related events annually. From their first year, students engage with potential employers, participate in internships, and gain practical experience with employment prospects.

“NUST MISIS is one of the country’s leading universities in computer science education. Over the past five years, the number of IT students has increased 2.5 times, while the average Unified State Exam (USE) score for admission has risen to 97–98. Under the Piority 2030 program, we have launched five strategic projects, including ’Digital Business,’ aimed at developing and commercializing scalable IT solutions and training professionals within the national ’Digital Economy’ project. Our IT programs are developed in collaboration with industry partners, and our graduates work for some of Russia’s largest high-tech companies, including Sber, Rosatom, Rostec, Russian Railways, Rostelecom, Yandex, VK, and others,” Alevtina Chernikova.

The ranking results are divided into two categories: universities based in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and those in regional areas. The goal of the ranking is to identify the leading universities in IT education quality and to foster stronger collaboration between academia and industry.

Experts from Digital Economy evaluated universities based on two key criteria: the scale of IT education and the assessment of universities by top technology companies. The ranking survey included responses from 90 executives of leading digital economy organizations, including VK, Yandex, Sber, Severstal, Rostec, and others.
