- modelling physical processes in inhomogeneous materials based on advance methods of large-scale modelling;
- developing technological solutions of using humic acids of solid fossil fuels for cleaning industrial solid and wastewaters from heavy metals and other ecotoxicants;
- developing methods and instruments of evaluating endogene fire danger of coals;
- standardization and metrology in the sphere of solid mineral fuel.
Svetlana Epstein is a Russian practicing scientist and head of the Research Testing Laboratory of Physics and Chemistry of Coals. Her work is focused on examining the material composition, physical, physicochemical and mechanical features of coals.
Manager of the following research projects:
- Establishing common aspects of changing morphological and structural characteristics of Russian coals in order to provide for the environmental safety of developing coal deposits,
2009-2011; - Creating the fundamentals of the environmental hydro-mechanized technology of removing peat from watered deposits for manufacturing peat products of the energy and technological significance,
2011-2012; - Elaborating a methodological base for forecasting endogene fire danger of coals extracted and stored,
2013-2014, etc.
- 9 registered patents and know-hows for the last 5 years;
