Elementary particle physics, detector physics, B-physics, high-energy physics.
He is a globally renowned specialist in the area of elementary particle physics. Under his direct guidance, a series of studies of third-generation lepton features were conducted, and B-meson oscillations were discovered. A large value of B-meson oscillations opens up great opportunities for examining the phenomenon of CP-parity non-preservation, which resulted in creating specialized B-mezon factories and installing LHCb on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in the European Nuclear Research Organization (CERN). He made a significant contribution to developing the methodologies of fast, radiation-protected scintillation electromagnetic calorimeters. Under his direct guidance, the LHCb unit was successfully launched, and several most exact results of checking a standard model in heave quark decays globally were obtained. He is a regular speaker at international conferences, including with his plenary reports at the largest, so-called Rochester Conferences on High Energy Physics in 2000 and 2010. He gave lectures at the Department of Elementary Particle Physics at MIPT and currently gives lectures at Imperial College London as a professor for the Department of High Energy Physics.
He is one of the initiators and currently the head of a new experiment with the fixed SHiP (Search for Hidden Particles) target on the SPS accelerator at CERN. At NUST MISiS, he is a leader of the Prospective Technological, Methodical and Material Solutions for New Physical Effects Searches project. Grants: The study of elementary particles and their interactions,
He authored over 300 papers in peer-refereed academic journals. He published articles in Physical Review D, Physical Review Letters, Nature. Hirsch index — 72. In 2007, A.I. Golutvin was elected the head of the LHCb international experiment on LHC in CERN that involves over 800 scientists from 17 countries — it is the first and only time when the LHC experiment was headed by a Russian scientist.
He was elected to the LHC Project Program Committee, CERN Scientific Policy Committee and is a member of the Program Committee for creating a new generation В-factory in the KEK research center (Japan). He contributes to the proceedings of program committees of several major international conferences, including LHCP events.
7 diploma papers and 12 PhD dissertations were prepared and defended.
