The Career and Practical Training Center is a university department created to provide employment assistance, professional navigation and practical training for students. If you’re looking for your dream internship or need help to start your career journey — we are here to guide you through the entire process.
Following the practice-oriented approach NUST MISIS interacts with industrial partners for the maximum development of students’ professional competencies and practical experience. We pay special attention to the practical training, internships and employment of students and graduates. Our career navigation service allows you to choose a future career path and take the first steps in the chosen direction from the first year of study.

We create a career development ecosystem focused on effective interaction between students, alumni and strategic partners of the university.
Practice-oriented approach
We assist in the development of new educational formats, organize practical training, involve students in scientific research and project activities in accordance with the requirements of the labor market. We help graduates to land a job in high-tech industries.
Career navigation support
We support students and graduates in career development in accordance with personal abilities, competencies and labor demand.
Internships and employment
The Center cooperates with 1649 leading Russian and international companies. We provide unique internships in mining, metallurgical, energy, construction, banking, high-tech and digital industries with a chance for further employment. More than 9000 NUST MISIS students undergo practical training every year.

In 2024, NUST MISIS graduates employment rage reached 96,4%. NUST MISIS graduates work in 86 countries around the world: Russia, China, USA, Canada, UK, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Latvia, Serbia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, Moldova, India, Australia, Congo, Angola, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Cambodia, Mexico, Vietnam, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Egypt, Turkey, Thailand, UAE, Israel and others.
In Russia our international graduates find their dream job in the mining, oil refining and energy industries (45%), IT & E-com (40%), сonstruction industry (15%). The NUST MISIS graduate starting salary in our country is $8 000 — $16 000 (RUB 720 000 — 1 440 000) per year. International students need to learn Russian to build a successful career in Russia.
In accordance with Russian laws international students can work in Russia on a student visa. And even without a work permit if they work during the holidays or in their university.
The Center’s key career events and projects
The key objective of career activities is to acquaint students and graduates with NUST MISIS partner companies and tell them about the competences and jobs in demand in the labor market.
Career events
- Company of My Dream — tours to companies and enterprises, during which participants may get to know a potential employer better and see the real operating procedures and equipment.
- Career Day — a meeting with representatives of a specific company that covers the company presentation, a narrative regarding career prospects and a Q&A session with students.
- Job Fair — a large-scale event that includes an exhibition of partner companies, master classes and trainings, discussions and plenary sessions with experts.
Ambassador Academy
This is the program for students who want to become a company ambassador. An ambassador is a student who is the face of a company at NUST MISIS, organizes various events for the company, receives an individual scholarship or internship from the company and also has a great chance to land a job in this company in the future. In our Academy students develop soft skills through the learning process (trainings, master classes from business leaders, public speaking, business correspondence, teamwork skills and much more). After completing the program students are recommended to our partners as brand ambassadors.
Project Initiative Club
The club develops case method teaching at NUST MISIS and supports student participation in various championships. At the club’s training events, students improve applied skills, learn to think outside the box and deepen their knowledge in entrepreneurship, business, analytics and economics.
Start in Moscow project
Start in Moscow is a a free-of-charge project launched by Moscow Government to help international specialists and students find job or internship in the city. Start in Moscow offers:
• database of vacancies in dynamically developing Moscow companies ready to employ citizens of other states,
• online and offline consultations on any issues related to the employment,
• day-to-day events and trainings,
• community of like-minded people with similar experience.
International students and specialists are invited for a free employment consultation.

Individual consulting and career navigation support
We offer individual support to our students and graduates. The center’s staff speak English. We can help to write a CV in two languages, prepare for a job interview in English and provide individual consultations in English.
Career test
We create a career navigation test to assist our students in determining professions that fit for their competencies and personality. The test helps to determine:
- professional interests. You’ll find out which company is better to work in, which positions are suitable for you
- professional skills. You’ll understand which aspects of intelligence are better to rely on and which ones develop more actively
- professional motivation. You’ll understand what drives you and what type of career path allow you to maximize your potential
- personality structure. You’ll figure out in which area you will be most successful and satisfied according to your personal characteristics
- life attitudes. You’ll understand what life values you are guided by making decisions about your professional future and how they can affect you in your future life
After passing the test you will receive an individual graphic scale with the results (professional interests, abilities, motivation, personal qualities, life attitudes) with text descriptions, a pie chart showing the most suitable jobs; a pie chart showing the most suitable career paths; list with professions that suit your interests, abilities, motives, personal characteristics and life attitudes, tips to improve your career development.
