In 2017, the scientometrical indicators, such as growth of qualitative publications and increase of citation level, had the greatest impact on NUST MISIS’s improved positions in the QS World University Rankings. This is a result of the University`s successful research activities: several large-scale research projects of the MegaScience level have been launched at NUST MISIS, as well as the operation of 27 modern laboratories and 3 engineering centers, where leading Russian and international scientists work.
When publishing research results, the University has recently focused more attention on the quality of papers as opposed to the quantity, also focusing more on journals with a high impact factor. Thanks to this approach, the citation index in the QS World University Rankings-2018 has increased almost 3 times compared to last year’s results. This also shows the topicality of research conducted by NUST MISIS scientists; the significance of their research is recognized internationally.
NUST MISIS has similarly demonstrated a noticeable growth in the “Employer reputation” indicator.
“One of NUST MISIS’s key directions of activities is training sought-after specialists who can be competitive on the labor market. Our aim is to help every graduate to understand where they are going to work after graduation. With the aim of helping students to find employment (in addition to departments that traditionally deal with that issue), the NUST MISIS Career Center, which works with 5,000 students and organizes more than 1,000 events annually, was created at the University. Today, the University collaborates with 1,500 enterprises both in Russia and abroad, and we’ve signed agreements with about 1,200 of those enterprises for student apprenticeships and internships. OMK, Metalloinvest, Karakan Invest, Norilsk Nickel, Alrosa, Evraz, EuroChem, Novolipetsk Steel and many other companies are among NUST MISIS’s key partners. Thanks to such consistent work with the business community, the University regularly strengthens its positions in the QS World University Rankings, including in the ‘Employer reputation’ indicator”, said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS.
In 2016, NUST MISIS entered the top-5 in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings among Russian universities. The Ranking represents the level of a university’s and employers’ interaction, as well as how successfully their graduates find employment.
