Moscow has improved its position in the QS Best Student Cities Ranking. The Russian capital, once again named the most attractive Russian city for international students, improved by 4 points and was slotted 39th among the 125 other world cities included in the ranking. Three more Russian cities entered the ranking for the first time — Saint Petersburg (78th position), Tomsk (91st position), and Novosibirsk (93rd position).
The ranking is compiled by 5 key categories which assess students’ lives from all angles. The categories are: University Rankings, Student Mix, Desirability, Employer Activity, and Affordability. Additionally, the 2017 edition includes a new category called Student View, based on a survey of 18,000 students and recent graduates from around the world.
“NUST MISIS and other universities in Moscow offer a wide range of educational programs taught in English, so students from different countries come to Moscow for studies with great pleasure. Conditions in universities in Moscow are on the top level — just like in world-leading universities: research centers and equipment are world-class, as well as the excellent student resident halls — all these are now real. Universities in Moscow are focused on the creation of a favorable working environment for students. Besides, Russia is one of the few countries allocating [a significant number of spots] for international students”, said Azeem Uddin (Pakistan), a 2nd year Master`s degree student at NUST MISIS’s Nanotechnology and Materials for Micro- and Nanosystems.
NUST MISIS has always paid great attention to internationalization. Today, 3,300 international students from 69 countries study at NUST MISIS. The university currently holds the 7th position in the International Students indicator among all institutions included in the QS BRICS Ranking. Among Russia universities it`s 4th, according to this indicator. Before the university’s participation in the 5-100 Project, a partnership which began in 2012, the percentage of international students here was only 10.3%, but as of 2016 that number had grown to 17.8%.
Nine international master`s degree programs operate at NUST MISIS. Additionally, seminars, lectures, and educational & research schools are regularly held for international students. Students have the opportunity to get acquainted with world-class laboratories and attend lectures delivered by leading international scientists working at NUST MISIS.

The focus of much attention is NUST MISIS`s student residence hall complexes, where master`s and PhD students live. NUST MISIS’s Commune House is the winner of an all-Russian competition for 2016.
The NUST MISIS International Friendship Club is designed to bring together all international students, to support them with studies and adapting to life in a new country, to help them make friends, to get acquainted with Russian culture, and to learn more about Moscow.
