#EdCrunch2018: World Experts for Russia’s Digital Economy Leaders

Konstantin Novoselov shared his ideas about the future of science with the intensive course participants: “We are used to dividing the history of mankind into eras. Everyone is wondering what is next, and what era do we live in now? The answer to this question is ambiguous. We are hostages to 3-5 materials: silicon in electronics, steel in construction, aluminum and a little bit of titaniumin aircraft building. Mankind needs new materials that will be adapted to new realities. The next era should be the era of adaptive materials with intellectual component, building a hierarchical system: car tires that adapt to road condition, roads that adapt to weather.”

Within the framework of the “Island 10-21” intensive course experts from the world famous center EdPlus at Arizona State University (EdPlus @ ASU) conducted a series of X-labs master classes. Professors of the University of Arizona Dale P. Johnson, Dr. Stefan Ruediger and Mike Sharkey led the work of several creative laboratories, which identified ways to develop domestic analogues of statistical collection tools for assessing effectiveness of Russian universities in general, results of training at particular universities and students’ university activities for benchmarking and long-term trends analysis.

Researchers from Arizona praised the joint work with the leaders of technological development in Russia.

“I am impressed by the scale and ambitions of the conference on Russky Island, where highly motivated young people gathered. We spent three days of laboratory work with participants, during which they learned to identify, process and use data collected in the educational system, and explored the possibilities of modern adaptive technologies. Together with the University of NTI ‘20-35’ and #EdCrunch we are planning to launch a number of large projects on higher education digital transformation, — said Dale P. Johnson, Adaptive Program Manager at the University of Arizona.

Arizona State University professors together with other well-known speakers will also take part in the work of the Global conference for technology in education #EdCrunch2018: data that transform the world”, which will be held from 1 to 2 October in the World Trade Center (WTC), Moscow. The conference, ideologist of which is NUST MISIS, is held within the framework of the priority project “The modern digital educational environment in the Russian Federation.” The #EdCrunch2018 organizers are NUST MISIS and the University of NTI “20.35” with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Rybakov Foundation.

The organizers of the first educational intensive course for the technological leaders of Russia #10-21 became the University of NTI “20.35”, Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), Russian Venture Company (RVC), Autonomous non-profit organization “Digital Economy”, FEFU. The project is designed to ensure the development of competences of all participants in the field of digital and end-to-end technologies, combined with skills of personal and team effectiveness management.

Within ten days, from 10 to 21 July, 1000 participants — the leaders of the country’s technological development, entrepreneurs in the field of modern technologies, leaders responsible for the digital transformation in their organization or region, talented high school students, students and young engineers — plunged into the atmosphere of creative search, intensive acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
