In this educational track, you will learn to analyze the logistics operations of an enterprise in the field of waste handling, study the infrastructure for ecologically safe waste neutralization and recycling of industrial and consumer waste. You’ll design logistics strategies, conduct resource-environmental initiatives, and optimize industrial technologies. You could work in metallurgical enterprises and holding companies as a logistics specialist or logistics analyst in waste management.

Technologies for the Production of Non-ferrous, Rare, and Noble Metals

Want to work with the metals of the future? Non-ferrous metallurgy is a strategic industrial sector and a key indicator of a country’s scientific and technical progress. That’s why this track gives you a wide array of professional growth opportunities. Consider this: non-ferrous metals and their alloys are used in everything from energy generation and mechanical engineering to aircraft and nuclear reactors, as well as forgings for military or medical use!

The guiding educational principle of this track is “To know means to be able” — upheld by a century of excellence from the department’s faculty. Your instructors will include not just scientists from NUST MISIS and Baikov Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science (IMET RAS), but also industry experts from Rosatom, the Research Institute of Chemical Technology, and Giredmet. Each year, our students succeed in hackathons and register patents and proprietary technology.

Heat Treatment, Structure, and Properties of Non‑ferrous Metals and Alloys

Want to design new metallic materials with unique properties? Or optimize production technologies for metals and alloys? You can master these skills on this educational track, created by one of Russia’s oldest schools of metallurgy (founded in 1909).

You’ll participate in real scientific projects and work intensively in research labs during your studies! You’ll learn to conduct metallurgical technological processes for non-ferrous and precious metals, select materials for various applications, and have the opportunity to work at metalworking enterprises, R&D centers, and research labs as a metallurgist, technologist, or quality engineer.

Duration of the program: 4 years. Full-time education in Russian.

Modern Casting Processes, Technologies, and Materials

Students in this educational track immediately become colleagues with their professors, working together in the unique lab complex funded by major industrial partners. For instance, last year they developed and patented a unique magnesium alloy in Russia, the USA, and the EU, based on work commissioned by LG Electronics Inc. — ideal for electric vehicles and industrial electronics. Want to be part of such an innovative team?

You’ll master the technological foundations of casting production and become a sought-after expert across industries, from aerospace and automotive to consumer goods. You’ll tackle extraordinary challenges — like dramatically reducing a car’s weight, producing a casting the size of a three-story house, or determining which alloys power aircraft.

Advanced Functional Powder and Additive Materials and Coatings

Want to learn how to create objects from metals? Work with ceramics, oxides, and composites instead of just raw metalworking materials? Your profession will remain in demand as long as material value is generated through real technology — not magic.

You’ll study the unique properties of powder states and learn research methodologies in powder materials science and functional coating technologies. Under the guidance of leading scientists and experts, you’ll work in modern labs like the Laboratory of IN SITU Diagnostics of Structural Transformations, the Laboratory of Inorganic Nanomaterials, the Structural Ceramic Nanomaterials Laboratory.

After graduation, you’ll be ready to lead production processes and develop improvement strategies.

Rolling Production Technologies

Modern enterprises require increasingly sophisticated metal processing technologies. Students of the Rolling Production Technologies track will master the creation and implementation of innovative rolling technologies. With hands-on skills, graduates build successful careers in critical sectors — energy, mechanical engineering, aviation, defense, medicine. This track offers a fundamental engineering education with Technological Design Engineer qualification, enabling graduates to attain leadership responsibilities without needing a master’s degree.
