Arkady Dvorkovich: NUST MISIS is Demonstrating Impressive Growth

The NUST MISIS Supervisory Council hosted its first meeting in 2017. The Council was presented with the results of the defense of the University`s roadmap, which took place in March 2017.

Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government and Chairman of the NUST MISIS Supervisory Council, noted the progress made by the University on its path to improve its quality of education, to strengthen its research activities, and to enhance its collaboration with business partners. He also highlighted that in March 2017, according to the roadmap`s results, NUST MISIS entered the group of the leading university-participants of Project

Such impressive results became possible due to the fact that the University`s management focused on modern approaches in management. NUST MISIS implemented this approach before other universities, even creating the International Scientific Advisory Council, a notable achievement of Project 5-100.

Regarding 2016`s results, NUST MISIS demonstrated excellence in every field of its activities. The admission campaign became the most successful of the last 5 years, and the average score of an applicant`s Unified State Exam increased from 67.3 in 2012 to 80.8 in 2016. Over these years, the University has pushed its position from 17th to 4th among technical universities in Russia.

Another great achievement last year was NUST MISIS`s leadership among university-participants of Project 5-100 on the number of publications in top-rated journals — the top-25% in the fields of engineering and materials science. NUST MISIS`s young scientists provided great help in the preparation of articles: though Project 5-100 they published about 300 papers with an average citation score about one and a half times higher than the average Russia paper.

In 2016, NUST MISIS strengthened its positions in leading international academic rankings, as well as entering the TOP-100 in the QS World University Rankings: BRICS and Emerging Europe & Central Asia. Also, NUST MISIS was the only Russian university included in T.H.E. World’s 20 Best Small Universities Ranking-2016. In the QS Graduate Employability Rankings in the “Organization of interaction between employers and students” indicator, NUST MISIS became a leader not only in Russia, but worldwide, by earning the maximum, 100 out of 100 possible points. Globally, only 7 universities have such an indicator.

More than 70 scientists with an h-index over 20 work at NUST MISIS. Additionally, two NUST MISIS Professors — Dmitri Golberg (h-71) and Sergey Morozov (h-52) — have entered the list of the Most Highly Cited Researchers-2016 published by Thomson Reuters.
