On October 27th, 2017, NUST MISIS presented the University`s development strategy to the Council of the Program for Competitiveness Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities among Global Research and Education Centers. NUST MISIS’s results for 2016 and 2017 greatly impressed the Council’s experts.
“NUST MISIS’s speech made a very strong impression on the members of the Project
5-100 Council, and that`s become possible thanks to excellent preparation and objective factors, which prove the University`s successful progress. It was a great honor and pleasure for me to participate in the defense of NUST MISIS’s ‘roadmap’”, said Professor Lindsay Greer, member of NUST MISIS International Scientific Advisory Council (University of Cambridge, UK).
NUST MISIS is one of Russia`s most dynamically developing research and education centers, attracting well-educated applicants, leading scientists, and talented lecturers. During the university’s participation in Project
NUST MISIS regularly implements successful joint projects with major Russian and global high-tech companies and research institutes. In 2017, NUST MISIS signed an agreement with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) on work as part of the SHiP experiment, becoming the only university participating in that collaboration. Also, NUST MISIS signed two memorandums on cultural and scientific cooperation with other participants of the SHiP experiment: INFN and the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA).
According to Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS, the inclusion of NUST MISIS in the group of Project 5-100’s absolute leaders became possible due to the successful implementation of the University`s development strategy, as well as attracting top-notch researchers, lecturers, employees, and students, help of both the NUST MISIS International Scientific Advisory Council and the NUST MISIS Supervisory Board, and support of its business-partners.
“The Project
5-100 Council has highly praised the results from the indicators of our ‘roadmap’ for2016-2017, and the dynamic of its growth — according to theses parameters, NUST MISIS is third among the Project’s participants. Several large-scale research projects of the MegaScience level are being implemented at the University, and impressive quantitative and qualitative growth in a number of scientific publications has been recorded: NUST MISIS is first among Project5-100 participants on the number of publications in the fields of engineering and materials science in journals in the first quartile as ranked by SNIP. Additionally in 2017, NUST MISIS has maintained a positive dynamic of growth in the QS and THE world rankings, and for the first time, entered the THE, QS, and ARWU subject rankings. We’ve set a challenging and ambitious goal — to become one of the best technological universities not only in Russia, but in the world. To achieve this goal, NUST MISIS has everything it needs: a proper development strategy, a highly-professional staff, talented students, research-educational infrastructure, and the support of the business community”, Chernikova said.
