Open Doors, an international Olympiad designed for graduate program applicants, has recently started in Russia. NUST MISIS, amongst Russia`s leading universities, is one of the Olympiad`s co-organizers. Students from around the world can enroll before the scheduled date and continue their education to obtain a master`s degree from one of the country`s and the world`s best universities.
The Olympiad is held through the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, and Rossotrudnichestvo; the Association “Global Universities” organized the project. Thanks to this initiative, for the first time ever, talented students from abroad have an opportunity to enroll without entrance exams into master degree programs offered in Russia through the “one window” system: an applicant can choose from 500 universities in 80 Russian cities, including universities included in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), QS World University Rankings and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), as well as any of the 21 universities participating in the
Citizens of any country, except Russia (as well as Russian compatriots living abroad), who have a Bachelor`s degree or who will graduate in 2018 with a Bachelor`s degree can participate in the Olympiad. It`s easy to participate— every stage is held online and the selection criteria are simple and transparent.
The Olympiad is held in two stages. Registration is open on the project`s website starting from November 20th, 2017. The selection stage is a portfolio competition: participants have to upload their materials between December 1st and February 16th, 2017. The selected students will be invited to the final stage — online testing, which will be held from March 5th, 2018 till March 15th, 2018. The Olympiad results will be announced on March 15th, 2018, with the list of winners and prize winners being published on the project`s official website. The winners’ university studies can be held in both Russian and English.
In 2018, the Olympiad will be held in four subjects: mathematics, informatics, economics, and physics. The Olympiad winners and prize-winners can choose any field of study within the scope of the profile in which they participated, and then one or more Russian university which provides training in the field they desire. The following universities will coordinate the fields: MIPT (mathematics), ITMO University (informatics), MEPhI (physics) and HSE (economics). NUST MISIS, Tomsk State University, Lobachevsky University, Polytech, Siberian Federal University, Novosibirsk State University, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, and Ural Federal University are the Olympiad’s co-organizers.
