For her contribution to the development of international cooperation, Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS, has been awarded with the Republic of Kazakhstan’s honorary medal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, named after Nazir Torekulov.
Imangali Tasmagambetov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation, awarded her the medal.
Medals named in honor of Nazir Torekulov were also awarded to Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of MGIMO, and Viktor Martynov, Rector of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University).
“We would like to note the significant contribution of our friends to strengthening Kazakh-Russian relations. They have proved their sincere friendship with their kind attention to our country, [and their] interaction and cooperation in scientific and educational fields year after year”, — Imangali Tasmagambetov proclaimed during the award ceremony.
Currently, about 2,000 students from Kazakhstan study in the three universities mentioned above. Nazir Torekulov is a distinguished statesman and diplomat. Torekulov is credited with both the Kazakh SSR’s formation of diplomatic service and its for heavily influencing its education system.
