Open Programming Competition “Cognitive Technologies”

On the 13th of January 2019, an open sports programming competition “Cognitive Technologies”, organized by NUST MISIS, MIPT and Cognitive Technologies company was held.

More than 1500 students from 7th to 11th grade took part in the competition. This year, the geographical scope of the competition widened: not only Russian citizens participated, but also students from Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Moreover, NUST MISIS held the competition in its branches in Tadjikistan, Uzbekistan, Staryi Oskol and in Education Center “Sirius”.

The competition is included in the second level of the list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. This gives the right to winners and prize-winners to enter many Russian universities using special rights defined by each University independently. When entering universities-co-organizers — NUST MISIS and MIPT  winners and prize-winners also have privileges.

One of such priveleges is a chance to participate in the competitive selection for a trip to All-Russian Children Center “Ocean”.

The competition was organized according to ACM ICPC rules. Participants were given 10 task problems. To solve them, participants had 5 hours. To check the solutions, an automated Yandex Contest verification system was used. The checking system made decisions written in C, C++, Pascal, Java, Python languages.

The place of each participant was determined depending on the number of solved problems, as well as penalty points assigned for the total time spent on their solution and the number of attempts. For each additional attempt, by analogy with biathlon, 20 penalty minutes were appointed.

55 people are the winners: 18 of them received diplomas of 1st degree, 17 of 2nd degree and 20 of 3rd degree.

Congratulations to all the participants and the winners!
