The immersion into the MISIS Universe begins for the freshmen

On the Day of Knowledge, MISIS University launched an “Immersion” adaptation program aimed at developing universal competencies and leadership qualities among first-year students. Within three months, training, lectures, and master classes in science, technology, entrepreneurship, careers, sports, and other areas will be held. Speakers include leading scientists, business representatives, cultural figures, and opinion leaders. More than 3,000 first-year students from all branches of MISIS University participate every year in the program.

For the grand opening of the program, the university’s student teams have prepared 26 interactive platforms for first-year students, including quizzes, master classes, art workshops, games, and eSports competitions. The participants had the opportunity to control a machine from the “Battle of Robots” and learned how to join one of more than 40 associations, such as the Student Scientific Society, Hackathon Club, and Student Design Bureau.

“Immersion” has been a part of NUST MISIS’s curriculum since 2015, transforming from a three-day intensive to a comprehensive program lasting 100 days. It is based on the involvement of students, from volunteers and mentors to organizers and event hosts. First-year students have the opportunity to choose from five different directions: Science, Education, Creativity, Sports, and Good Deeds. The program consists of four main blocks. The first block focuses on digital services, including a freshman’s guide and chats, which help first-year students understand the university’s structure through thematic podcasts. The second block provides full-time mentoring and support for new students. Third, there is a rich event schedule, which includes campus tours, college days, career fairs, workshops, and more. Fourth, students develop soft skills and prepare for future roles as student leaders.

“I wish the students every success in their studies and the implementation of the most ambitious ideas. May this academic year bring remarkable discoveries, inspiring projects, and new victories!” — said the Rector of MISIS University, Alevtina Chernikova, in her congratulatory speech.

Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Nazim Efendiev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Metalloinvest, and Yulia Mazanova, Deputy General Director for Sustainable Development and Corporate Communications at Metalloinvest, also greeted the students.

“I congratulate you on the start of your new journey. You are now students at one of the most prestigious universities in our country, NUST MISIS. This is not just a university, it is your home for the next few years. Here, you will receive an excellent education, gain scientific knowledge, and enjoy an exciting student life. The university will serve as your Alma mater, providing you with a solid foundation that will shape your future. Good luck, and may everything work out for you!”, said Olga Petrova, in a video message.

The event concluded with a performance by the Kursk Symphony Orchestra, as part of the “Music at MISIS” project.
