At the invitation of the Ministry of Education of Inner Mongolia (China), delegation of NUST MISIS took part in the international conference on educational cooperation development — Inner Mongolia Conference on High Quality Development of Educational Opening Up. During the event, the university signed a cooperation agreement with the Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology.
NUST MISIS Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Andrey Voronin and Head of International Education Department Olga Kim discussed with representatives of Chinese universities the prospects for launching joint programs and academic exchanges. In negotiations with the Rector of the Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, Professor Han Yongquan, the parties outlined the next steps in developing the partnership.
At the plenary session, Andrey Voronin presented the adaptive model of engineering education adopted at NUST MISIS. The model is aimed at training specialists capable of solving complex engineering challenges in the design and operation of new materials and technologies. It is being implemented as part of a pilot project to test a new model of higher professional education levels.
The NUST MISIS delegation also visited the campus of the Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, where faculty members showcased their research results and presented leading laboratories engaged in projects on the extraction and processing of rare-earth metals.
In a recent interview, Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov spoke about the outcomes of his working visit to China and emphasized the importance of Russian-Chinese cooperation in higher education: “At present, two very important intergovernmental agreements are in the final stage of coordination — on cooperation in education and on the mutual recognition of education, qualifications, and academic degrees.”
