On November 30th and December 1st, 2017, the diploma defense ceremonies for the new MBA program “Management of Industrial Enterprise”, developed by NUST MISIS specifically for the United Metallurgical Company (OMK), took place at NUST MISIS. 24 OMK line managers presented their final projects.
The aim of the program was to train specialists in the effective organization of production. Students obtained not only theoretical knowledge but also learned about the production management experience in both Russian and international companies. In one year, the program graduates will have to present their project results to companies.
Anatoly Sedykh, Chairman of the Management Board at OMK, Vladimir Markin, OMK’s President, Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS, Svetlana Nikolashina, OMK’s Chief Personnel Officer, and Alexander Barykova, Vyksa Steel Works’ Managing Director, attended the ceremony.
“OMK and NUST MISIS have been cooperating for many years, and during this time we have implemented many great joint projects. The knowledge [the students] obtain at the University is very practical — I know that as a NUST MISIS graduate myself. I [would like to] thank the NUST MISIS Rector and all the University`s faculty for our long-term cooperation, for the quality of teaching, and for the opportunities they provide”, noted Anatoly Sedykh.
This is not the first NUST MSIS and OMK joint program—from 2009 to 2014, at the request of Vyksa Steel Works (VSW), NUST MISIS implemented a special project called “OMK Campus”. The program`s aim was to train specialists with high qualifications that fit into positions in high-tech production. That knowledge from other fields has been added to the knowledge from the “metallurgy” field (system-oriented analyses —its development), etc.
“The United Metallurgical Company is one of NUST MISIS`s key strategic partners. We have been implementing joint educational, research, and social projects for many years already. Upon completion of the MBA program ‘Management of Industrial Enterprise’, its students have developed and defended ready-to-implement projects in the field of the effective organization of production”, commented Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS.
The program started in 2016. Employees of Vyksa Steel Works, Trubodetal Plant, Blagoveshchensk Valves Plant, and Chusovsky Metallurgical Plant took part in the program. The applicants’ personal achievements and career successes were taken into account during the selection process.
