NUST MISIS Ranked 10th Among Russian Universities in THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021

On March 9, Times Higher Education (THE) announced the results of the Emerging Economies University Rankings. NUST MISIS is ranked 94th, ending up as Russia’s 10th best university. In total, this year’s rankings list a record 606 universities in 48 emerging economies. With 48 universities ranked, Russia has expanded its presence in the rankings table — up from 39 last year.

The top 20 positions of the list are claimed by the universities from China, Russia, Taiwan, South Africa, Brazil, India and Saudi Arabia. The THE Emerging Economies University Rankings cover institutions from countries classified as emerging by the FTSE. These are further divided into three groups: Advanced Emerging, Secondary Emerging, and Frontier.

To compile its rankings, THE uses 13 performance metrics that fall into five broad categories: teaching (learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (knowledge transfer).

NUST MISIS has considerably improved its standing in the rankings over the past five years, climbing up 69 positions with particular improvements across citations, industry income and international outlook. The university has over 200 partnerships all around the globe. Despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, in 2020 alone NUST MISIS signed cooperation agreements with Brandenburg University of Technology (Germany), Clausthal University of Technology (Germany) and Haute École Albert Jacquard (Belgium).
