On October 25th, 2018, the defense procedure for Ekaterinburg`s candidacy to host the 2025 World Expo was held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. Vladimir Pirozhkov, head of the NUST MISIS Kinetica High Complexity Prototyping Center, spoke in support of Ekaterinburg.
EXPO 2025 is an upcoming world exhibition organized by the Bureau International des Expositions. World Expos are a symbol of industrialization and an open platform to demonstrate technical and technological achievements.
The three remaining candidate to host the 2025 World Expo are Osaka, Japan, Ekaterinburg, Russia, and Baku, Azerbaijan. The Russian Federation proposed that they host the expo under the theme “Changing the World: Innovations and a Better Life for Future Generations”.
On October 25th, 2018, a symposium to support the Russian candidacy was held in Paris. More than 100 people took part in the symposium, from representatives of the diplomatic corps of countries in the Bureau International des Expositions to famous Russian and international icons. The worlds of culture, sports, design, government and business all came together to support Ekaterinburg’s bid.
The experts discussed the Russian application as well as the main prospects for the development of Ekaterinburg upon completion of the Expo.
The Bureau International des Expositions will announce the host city at the General Assembly meeting to be held on November 22nd and 23rd, 2018.
