An opening ceremony of the Center of Russian Language and Culture for schoolchildren, students, and teachers took place at the branch of the NUST MISIS in Dushanbe. The event was attended by representatives from the Embassy of Russia, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rossotrudnichestvo, and heads of branches of Russian universities. This year, those interested in studying at NUST MISIS will be able to enroll in a preparatory department and start intensive study of the Russian language.
At the Center, students and young researchers will be able to attend lectures by professors from the main university, participate in creative competitions and Russian language Olympiads, learn academic writing principles and business communication. In the near future, there will be professional development programs for teachers and a preparatory department for university applicants. For schoolchildren, there will be classes in Russian language as well as special courses for future engineers.
“When the branch of NUST MISIS was opened in Dushanbe, the leadership of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the main university set the task, among other things, to promote the Russian language and culture in the country, to increase sincere interest among the youth of Tajikistan in our country and its traditions. It is gratifying that all these years, the branch has consistently followed this important goal step by step. I am sure that the Center being opened today will become an important focal point not only for the students of the branch but also for a wide circle of Tajik youth,” said Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Tajikistan, Semyon Grigoryev.
As part of the festive program, an agreement was signed with the Chairman of the Committee for Primary and Secondary Vocational Education under the Government of Tajikistan, Farhod Rahimi, on cooperation in educational and scientific-methodological activities. Events dedicated to preserving the shared historical memory of Russia and Tajikistan, issues of intercultural communication, and the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication also took place.
“We hope that the opening of the Center for Russian Language at the branch of NUST MISIS in Dushanbe will mark the beginning of similar initiatives in more remote regions where residents show active interest in learning Russian. Such projects help strengthen ties between the educational systems of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, develop cultural cooperation between the peoples of both countries,” said Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Abdulkholikzoda Lutfiya Abdulkholik.
Rector of NUST MISIS, Alevtina Chernikova, initiated the creation of a library at the Center for Russian Language and Culture by donating a complete collection of works by Alexander Pushkin to the director of the Dushanbe branch of the University, Muminjon Jurayev, as this year marks 225 years since the birth of the great Russian poet. In the near future, artistic and scientific literature in Russian selected by university teachers and scientists will be transferred to the branch.
“To develop the environment at the branch, we are opening the Center for Russian Language and Culture, whose tasks include not only teaching our students Russian from day one but also interacting with schools, developing and implementing continuing education programs at the request of our business partners, popularizing the culture and historical heritage of our country. I am confident that the Center for Russian Language and Culture will become a focal point for talented individuals of different ages and a platform for developing intercultural dialogue,” noted Alevtina Chernikova.
With the opening of the Center for Russian Language and Culture, the project “Russian Environment” will be launched, under which cultural and educational events aimed at acquainting city residents with Russia’s historical heritage and developing intercultural dialogue will take place every third Wednesday of each month at the NUST MISIS branch in Dushanbe.
