NUST MISIS Agrees on Cooperation with Leading Universities

Representatives of 15 foreign universities visited NUST MISIS as part of the International Scientific Symposium “Miner`s Week-2018”. Agreements on international cooperation in the field of education and science were reached as a result of the round table discussion “The internationalization of education in the mining field”.

NUST MISIS and the University of Potosina (Mexico) have signed a Memorandum of understanding with the aim to promote and develop joint cooperation in the field of higher education and scientific research. Further cooperation will include the implementation of programs on academic mobility, the development of joint educational programs, and research activities in areas of mutual interest. This agreement is only in the first stage so far — there are also plans to involve NUST MISIS in the implementation of the University of Potosina`s projects for automotives, agriculture, and medicine.

The Polytechnic University of Madrid in Spain launched the initiative of the Erasmus+ project, aimed at an international exchange of professors and graduate and PhD students. With the agreement made at “Miner`s Week-2018”, NUST MISIS will be joining an impressive group of universities from around the world that are already involved in Erasmus+.

NUST MISIS’s first working meeting with the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) on the creation of a joint master`s degree program in mining safety was held as part of the existing agreement.

A Master`s degree program in mining held together with the Krakow Mining Academy (Poland), and a double degree program in solar energy hosted with Rovira i Virgili University (Spain) will also be created as a result of the agreement.

Curtin University (Australia), the Federal Center for Technological Education of Mines Gerais (Brazilia) and the University of Oviedo (Spain) have expressed interest in scientific cooperation and the creation of joint educational programs in the mining industry with NUST MISIS.
