Freshmen’s issuance of student cards and passes to enter university buildings and dormitories takes place at the Student Office as a part of the “Immersion” adaptation program. After the issuance of the “Admission to the University” order, an invitation to receive a set of documents is sent to the email address provided in the enrollment application. To visit the Student Office, it is necessary to undergo a pre-registration procedure. This is to ensure that the document collection process is organized as comfortably as possible and without long queues.

International students should address migration registration and related issues at the Student Office (for foreign citizens from abroad who came to study under a visa-required procedure) or at the dormitory’s Passport Office (for foreign citizens from countries with a non-visa regime).
- Foreign citizens are advised to apply for registration within three working days from the date of entering Russia or arriving from another place of residence.
- The minimum set of documents includes copies of all filled passport pages, a notarized passport translation into Russian, the copy and the original of the migration card, and the original of the previous registration (if available).
- If a foreign citizen lives in a dormitory, the university handles the registration; otherwise, the property owner (apartment owner, hotel, etc.) does.
- By the time of registration at the Student Office, a foreign citizen must have been allocated a place in the dormitory.
- After registration, a foreign citizen must undergo a mandatory fingerprint registration process by himself (only once).
- After the first registration, a foreign citizen can apply for registration and/or visa extension (if necessary). Visa extension can only be processed through the Student Office.
- Foreign citizens are required to undergo a mandatory annual health examination (separate from form
086-У) and provide information to the Ministry of Internal Affairs by themselves.

Before applying for the Muscovite Card, students should check if they are in the registry. If not found in the registry, to resolve this issue, students should contact the Student office in person or by emailing sto@misis.ru.
Registration on the Public Services Portal requires a Social Insurance Account Number (СНИЛС) regardless of the citizenship.
СНИЛС (SNILS) is assigned to every citizen, including foreigners, by the Social Insurance Fund (СФР). It consists of 11 digits and is assigned once, which can be obtained on the СФР (SIF) website, or in person at a СФР (SIF) office, or at a Multifunctional Center (МФЦ). To apply for a СНИЛС, foreign citizens or stateless persons will need an application form, an identity document, and its notarized translation into Russian.
Students must provide their SNILS number to the Student Office for registry inclusion during the student card and pass issuance or by emailing the Student Office at sto@misis.ru.
The Muscovite Card is produced within 30 days. The card can be collected at the selected “My Documents” center, requiring the identity document specified in the application.
NUST MISIS, in collaboration with Gazprombank, issues bank scholarship cards. After the issuance of the admission order for budgetary education, a Gazprombank campus bank card of the “MIR” payment system will be issued for a student. The account will be activated only after student signs an application and provides the following documents (for foreign citizens or non-residents):
- Original and a copy of the identity document (passport);
- Notarized translation of the identity document (passport) into Russian and its copy;
- migration card original with a valid period (if available) and/or other documents issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs on migration matters — residence permit, temporary residence permit;
- TIN number — a foreign taxpayer identification number. It is important for students to know their TIN in advance before visiting the Student Office to apply for a bank account.

The accommodation of all students in the university dormitories is based on the “Admission to the University” orders and the “Provision of a Place in the Dormitory” orders for the duration of their studies.
Placement in dormitory buildings is according to the lists of students admitted to the first year, which are published on the university’s website in the Dormitory Accommodation section by August 24th (updated within three days after the issuance of university admission orders).
The accommodation of first-year students in the dormitory buildings starts from August 26th to September 5th, daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Information about the accommodation terms is posted on the university’s website in the Dormitory Accommodation Procedure section.
Accommodation in the dormitory buildings occurs on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
According to the information on the website, the student, with a set of documents and personal belongings, directly approaches the specified dormitory building for accommodation, where it is necessary to sign a residential lease agreement.
Upon accommodation, the following set of documents must be provided to the dormitory:
- The original identity document (passport) and its copy;
- Notarized translation of the identity document (passport) into Russian and its copy;
- The original migration card and its copy;
- A copy of the ОМС (OMS) or ДМС (DMS) insurance policy;
- A medical certificate issued by licensed medical institutions subordinate to the Russian Ministry of Health, indicating the absence of contraindications for living in a dormitory, including a mandatory note about undergoing fluorography and the absence of infectious diseases (tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis B), and a vaccination certificate.
Students who have not reached the age of majority are required to submit all documentation in the presence of one of their legal representatives — parents or trustees. Legal representatives must have an identity document with them. It’s better if it’s a passport. In addition to the passport, trustees must present to the authorized person papers certifying the rights of custody or guardianship over a minor.

Postgraduate students need to submit the following set of documents to the Housing Commission for allocation of a place in the university dormitory:
- The original identity document (passport) and its copy;
- Notarized translation of the identity document (passport) into Russian and its copy;
- A certificate of property absence in Moscow (can be obtained at the Multifunctional Center — МФЦ);
- A personal application;
- A petition (for processing, contact the ЦПКВК (CPKVK) — only for senior year postgraduate students; for first-year students, documents are prepared centrally and for all admitted postgraduate students).

* For admissions within the quota of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education from August 30th to December 31st, accommodation is based on the issuance of the “Admission to the University” order, receiving information from the student about the dates of arrival in the Russian Federation, and approving the dormitory building with the administration.
