Professor Dmitri Golberg, head of the NUST MISIS Laboratory of Inorganic Nanomaterials and Sergey Morozov, head of the NUST MISIS Laboratory of Functional Low-Dimensional Structures, have entered the list of the Most Highly Cited Researchers 2016, published by Thomson Reuters and based on “Web of Science” data.
Thomson Reuters has presented its report on “The World`s Most Influential Scientific Minds 2016”. The list includes scientists who have made the most significant contributions in their field of research this year, and NUST MISIS is proud to have two heads of their laboratories honored.
“Professor Dmitri Golberg is a NUST MISIS graduate and the winner of the first Mega Grant Competition from the Government of the Russian Federation. The NUST MISIS Laboratory of Inorganic Nanomaterials is one of the world`s leading labs in this field of study. In 2015, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergey Morozov became the winner of the NUST MISIS Open International Grant Competition, which aimed to support scientific study in new research spheres. Doctor Morozov’s lab, the NUST MISIS Laboratory of Functional Low-Dimensional Structures, is currently studying graphene”, said Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS.
Professor Dmitri Golberg, a Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, holder of the Government of the Russian Federation Mega Grant, and head of the NUST MISIS Laboratory of Inorganic Nanomaterials, was placed in the top-200 cited authors in the “Materials Science” category. Professor Golberg is one the world`s leading experts in the field of inorganic nanotubes. The research team led by Professor Golberg is engaged in the development of the “dream material” — an advanced composite material based on aluminum, but comparable in strength to highly-alloyed steel while remaining lighter than aluminum. The technology is now possible due to the unique method of strengthening materials using nanotubes of boron nitride.
Professor Sergey Morozov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences and head of the NUST MISIS Laboratory of Functional Low-Dimensional Structures, was placed in the top-200 most cited authors in the “Physics” category. Sergey Morozov is one of the world`s leading experts in the physics of graphene; together with a research group of Novosyolov and Geim, he actively participated in the research that led to its discovery.
This distinction for the NUST MISIS researchers is not new however. Both Golberg and Morozov have been included on the list of the most highly cited researchers in the world published by Thomson Reuters in previous years as well.
