Four NUST MISIS Teams Reach the ICPC Semifinals

On October 20th, 2018, the quarter-final of the ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest, a.k.a. the Moscow Programming Contest, was held at “Nagatino” Technopark. All four NUST MISIS teams — Gender Solids, Astral Squash, Kalmyk-Yablyk, and Grey Grandmasters — advanced to the semifinals, which will take place in Saint Petersburg on December 1st and 2nd, 2018.

89 teams took part in the contest, with only 27 reaching the semifinals. The contest has a quota limiting the number of participants per university which consists of the base quota and allowances for the number of their teams. In Moscow, the maximum quota was 6 teams for MIPT and 4 teams each for NUST MISIS, Lomonosov Moscow State University, HSE and Bauman Moscow State Technical University. However, the presence of the quota didn’t guarantee that all the teams would reach the semifinals as the total quota for the Moscow region was 27 teams.
