From October 11th to 14th, 2018, NUST MISIS hosted the second International Congress of Students Organizations (MKSO-2018). More than 300 students from universities in Russia, Portugal, Armenia, China and other countries attended the event.
The International Congress of Students Organizations is aimed at the development of a network system of interaction for student associations to exchange their experiences at various universities in Russia and abroad.
There were four sections at MKSO-2018: “Harmonization of interethnic relations among students”, “Development of youth science”, “Student self-government: realities and prospects”, “Media content. From creation to promotion”. During the three days, participants discussed various student initiatives, attended foresight sessions, and visited famous Moscow landmarks.
Foresight sessions set up like pop science activities were held as part of the “Development of youth science” section. Students and lecturers noted that the main trends are online education, virtual reality and blogs that promote science. The trends are so strong that even traditional events like conferences and festivals are now being held online.
Alevtina Chernikova, Rector of NUST MISIS, noted that student associations play an important role in the development of young people’s personal qualities. By participating in and organizing University events, students have the opportunity to work in a team, make informed decisions and practice leading people. The International Congress of Students Organizations helps activists from different countries exchange experiences and meet new friends regardless of borders.
Notable heads of student organizations at the University and Federal levels, as well as representatives of public authorities, were among the speakers at MKSO-2018.
“If you get management skills at a student association and become a recognized leader, you will not have problems with [finding] employment and self-realization. You can become a high-scaled manager or open your own business”, said Segey Chuev, Deputy Chairman of the Expert Council on the Development of Civil Education and Student Socialization at the State Duma Committee for Education and Science.
The NUST MISIS International Friendship Club organized the event with the support of the Russian Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).
