Twelve researchers from the MISIS University have been included in the world’s top 2% of most cited scientists, according to the bibliometric database Scopus. The annual ranking is published by Elsevier BV, one of the four largest academic publishing houses in the world.

The evaluation considered a range of indicators, including total number of citations, research productivity, and other bibliometric measures.
The following NUST MISIS researchers were named among the most cited scientists worldwide:

- Igor Golovin, DSc in Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Department of Physical Metallurgy of Non-Ferrous Metals
- Sergey Dorozhkin, Leading Expert, Institute of Biomedical Engineering
- Filipp Kiryukhantsev-Korneev, DSc in Engineering, Professor, Department of Powder Metallurgy and Functional Coatings; Head of the In situ Structural Transformations Diagnostics Laboratory, MISIS-ISMAN Joint Research Center on Self-Propagating High-Temperature Synthesis
- Natalia Naumenko, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Leading Expert, Research & Education Center for Acousto-Optics
