NUST MISIS at NAFSA-2017

NUST MISIS actively participated at this year’s NAFSA International Annual Conference & Expo, held in Los Angeles (USA) and organized by the world`s largest nonprofit, the National Association for Foreign Student Affairs. NUST MISIS has participated at NAFSA since 2015 as a part of a single large-scale stand for Project 5-100, which represents a collection of Russian universities.

Participation in major international educational exhibitions is one of several ways NUST MISIS is expanding its international activities in the field of education as part of Project 5-100.

The NAFSA 2017 Annual Conference & Expo gathered more than 9,000 representatives of the international academic community from 100 countries. It marked a great opportunity to find partners for the development of students’ and professors’ academic mobility, as well as to create joint educational and scientific research projects.

Traditionally, NAFSA’s program focuses on current issues in globalization and local challenges for higher education. NUST MISIS took part in several sessions on internationalization, the recruiting of international students, and brand management and communications.

After Vice Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Ludmila Ogorodova`s meeting with representatives of the California State University System (USA) and JAFSA, Alyona Ponomarenko talked about NUST MISIS’s cooperation with the U.S. and Japan in the fields of science and education.

Participation at NAFSA includes numerous meetings with partners designed to discuss formats of possible cooperation. Starting from 2015, a series of signed memorandums and agreements became a result of the negotiations. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject — 2017, NUST MISIS took 31st in the world in Engineering-Mineral & Mining. At NAFSA — 2017, NUST MISIS established contacts with Canadian and American universities which also have high rankings in this indicator, with the aim of developing cooperation in the fields of science and education.
