From November 22nd to 24th, 2018, NUST MISIS hosted Russia`s first Science Slam school of organization for university representatives, organized jointly with Science Slam Association Russia through the support of Russia`s Ministry of Science and Education, Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), Rusnano`s Fund for Infrastructure & Educational Programs, and Rosatom. The event drew 120 participants from 26 Russian universities, who gathered to learn how about how to prepare and host the most effective science events possible.
From November 21st to 23rd, 2018, “Studying is our Choice”, the all-Russian competition for student projects on improving the quality of education, was held in Izhevsk. The NUST MISIS “Open Rectorate” project took 2nd place in the “Best Project” nomination, and Gleb Uzunov, head of the NUST MISIS Student Council, took 1st place in the “Best Leader” nomination.
Two standout NUST MISIS students won the annual Open International Student Russian Language Internet-Olympiad. Angelina Chachina (3rd year Bachelor`s degree student at the NUST MISIS College of New Materials and Nanotechnologies) and Tatyana Karacheva (1st year Bachelor`s degree student at the NUST MISIS College of Basic Professional Studies) won bronze medals.
Daniil Efimov, a 1st year Bachelor`s degree student at NUST MISIS, took 2nd place in the PUSHKA International Competition of Industrial design. Daniil was one of the youngest participants in the entire event and the only finalist in the “non-core” specialty.
On November 22nd, 2018, the representative office of the Arkhangelsk Oblast of the Russian Government held an extended meeting with the heads of leading universities in Moscow and representatives of Arkhangelsk`s largest industrial enterprises. Variants of cooperation between Moscow universities and Arkhangelsk regional enterprises were discussed at the meeting.
On November 7th and 8th, 2018, NUST MISIS hosted the 5th International Conference on ESP/EAP/EMI in the Context of Internationalizing Higher Education.
The finale of the CUP MISIS CASE championship for school children and students, which attracted over 1500 participants from 60 universities and schools from 42 Russian regions, was recently held at NUST MISIS. Participants were given real business cases, provided by Novolipetsk Steel, the 2018 championship’s general partner, to solve. Teams from Moscow, Novotroitsk, Buguruslan, and Kolomna were named the championship’s winners.
On November 8th and 9th, 2018, NUST MISIS together with the Center for Competences on Urban Environment Issues, a part of the Russian Ministry of Construction, held the all-Russian “UrbanTech” forum. The event was held as part of the Intersec Forum Russia — an event dedicated to the development of the “Smart City” concept — building automatization and safety control in residential and office premises.
On October 25th, 2018, the defense procedure for Ekaterinburg`s candidacy to host the 2025 World Expo was held at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris. Vladimir Pirozhkov, head of the NUST MISIS Kinetica High Complexity Prototyping Center, spoke in support of Ekaterinburg.
On October 31st, 2018, NUST MISIS hosted an “Open Rectorate” meeting with University management and students. Some of the main topics discussed at the event were the organization of practical trainings and internships, the employment of graduates, scholarship programs, and the integration of scientific and educational activities.
