A delegation from universities of the People’s Republic of China visited NUST MISIS to discuss prospective areas of cooperation. The guests emphasized the importance of joint development in science and education, as well as exchange programs for master’s and doctoral students. The meeting was organized with the support of Beijing WECO International Education and Culture Co., Ltd.
Representatives of Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, China University of Petroleum, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Beijing WECO International Education and Culture Co., Ltd. expressed interest in collaboration and joint participation in Russian-Chinese scientific research competitions.
“It is important for us to strengthen ties with NUST MISIS. Representatives of Chinese universities have already outlined directions for cooperation in science and education. The next step will be to work out specific steps to establish cooperation in biomedicine, mining, and materials science,” said Wang He, General Director of Beijing WECO International Education and Culture Co., Ltd.
The guests and representatives of NUST MISIS exchanged information about the achievements of the universities and identified similar scientific goals. Head of the College of Biomedical Engineering Fedor Senatov shared with colleagues from China the latest scientific research, including the bioprinter used for the world’s first operation on a human. Chen Wantao, a professor at the medical faculty of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, noted that in China, bioprinting technology is still being tested on animals and expressed respect for Russian scientists.
Vadim Petrov, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs at NUST MISIS, spoke about the prospects of educational cooperation between universities: “Our university offers programs for scientific internships in research laboratories for master’s and doctoral students. We will also be happy to see graduates from China in our master’s programs, where they can receive education in English-language programs based on advanced research infrastructure”.
After the meeting, the Chinese delegation visited the centers and laboratories of NUST MISIS, noting the high level of infrastructure and university opportunities. The visit was an important step towards strengthening partnership relations between Russian and Chinese universities.
